Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to these two!
I'm a little embarrassed to admit, though, that I don't know how many years they have been married, but I couldn't ask for two better parents!
I love and miss you both Mom and Dad!
Happy Anniversary!

Just a few reasons why I love my mom and dad
(most of the pics are from our last vacation to New York)

my parents took Steve and I on a graduation trip this past March (I know, I know Steve graduated 7 years ago) to New York City, and boy did they deliver! Some of the things we did
-Times Square (1st picture)
-Yankee Stadium
-2 Broadway plays (Wicked and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying)
-New York Knicks vs the Utah Jazz basketball game
-Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
-Museum of Natural History
-The Met
-Ground Zero and an amazing 9/11 Workshop (2nd picture)
-Rockefeller Center
-Steve's favorite Madam Taussads' Wax Statue Museum (2 pictures above and 1 below)
and so so much more.
my parents were so awesome on that trip and I'm so thankful they took me it was such a blast!

I have my wonderful Dad to thank for my love of sports. This man loves his sports and passed it down to his kids. I remember times as a kid he would take my siblings and me outside and shoot around the hoop or play catch with us. I also remember every trip we took we always found some baseball or basketball game to go to. One of my favorite memories of my childhood is at the old Seattle Mariner's Stadium in 1996. It was the first time I saw the Yankees ever play. I was sitting in between my Dad and my sister Carrie. I think it was then that I started my obsession with Derek Jeter--it was his Rookie year. My Dad fell in love with the Yankees, especially Mickey Mantle (pic above), as a young kid and he passed that on to my and my siblings and I plan to pass that down to my children, and maybe even one day have a son named Jeter Robert?  My Dad is one of the biggest reasons why I chose Physical Education as my major. I want to help kids find a love for sports like my Dad did for me.

My mom is the most amazing woman i know. I don't even know where to start so I'm just going to list everything in random order: she's hard working, she serves others, she puts all her effort into everything she does, she is loving, she is all about her family, and she is one of the most honest people i know. She is kind of a history nerd like me (the first picture is outside of the Natural History Museum). She is always willing to put others needs before her own. She is seriously just incredible.

My parents have both always taught me the importance of school and being a hard worker. They are the two hardest workers I know. Both are college graduates (although my mom was never an aggie) and both have stressed to me the importance of getting a degree.

and most importantly these two people are the best grandparents in the world! i'm a little jealous of my nieces and nephews because they have THE BEST grandparents! They would do anything, and I mean anything for their grandkids. I can count on one hand the times my mom would jump with me on the tramp when i was little, but now she does it daily for them :)

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad
Love and miss you both!

the best day...

let me tell you about a few of the "good and bads" from alaska.

good: i have money to buy things.
bad: alaska is very expensive so i don't buy much.

good: valdez has a movie theater.
bad: it only shows one show at a time.

good: harry potter is in theaters.
bad: it isn't in valdez.

good: harry potter is showing in wasilla.
bad: wasilla is 5 hours away.

good: our boss LOVES harry potter and is dying to see it just as bad as cath, tiff, and i are.
bad: we have no work until friday.
good: road trip to wasilla tomorrow! [: [: [:

two days ago tami asked tiff, cath, and i if we wanted to take a road trip to wasilla to see harry potter. of course we said heavens yes! so the next day at the early hour of 7 a.m. we piled into the car to see harry potter!

my life is basically complete now.

but harry potter wasn't the only fabulous part about our roadtrip. other fabulous things that wasilla had:
-target.
-wal mart.
-chili's.
-treats for a reasonable price.
and best of all.....

[drumroll please...]

MCDONALD'S

yea, we were mcdonald's deprived.
seriously.
never thought i would ever say that but it is true.
i missed it so much.
but everyone is.

the day before we left to wasilla i was leaving work and nelson hollered at me. so i ran over to see what he needed and he gave me twenty bucks and told me to pick him up some mcdonald's. i thought he was kidding. i mean seriously by the time we got back his food would be 5 hours old!

he didn't care! so while we were at mcdonalds i bought nelson's food first. i went up to order and nelson wanted 1 chicken sandwich and 5 mcdoubles. the lady who took my order turned around to a boy working and told him my order. the boy turned around looked at me (you know that look when they look you up and down) and then just says seriously??! i was humiliated! then the whole time i was waiting for my food he just stared at me and shook his head. facepalm! i grabbed my bags and turned around and left.

oh yea, i never got my food.
so i had to go back again and get my own food.
that worker thinks i know how to put food away.

all in all i left wasilla with cheap, well normal priced, granola, 7 hamburgers from mcdonalds, a dr. pepper, and i saw harry potter!

my life is complete.

tami also asked me to drive on the way back because she was getting tired. it was my first time driving in a month and a half.
it felt awesome.

and while i was driving we saw this moose, seriously RIGHT across the street!

in other good news, a GREAT friend got his mission call to columbia
AND
20 days left of being o.k. in the A.K.

life is good right now.

revenge round two...

as cath and i were leaving work we saw that mark and shelby were right in front of us.
which means that it was the perfect opportunity for us to get our second round of revenge.

we watched them walk into their rooms and as soon as they entered we got to work.

step 1: fill up the garbage can with water.

step 2: lean it against the door.

step 3: knock on their door and enjoy.

see for yourself!

poor poor mark and shelby...didn't even see it comin'!

and the video is sideways, i apologize, i can't figure out how to switch it!

bored...

so today we were bored.

really bored.

and sometimes when you're bored photobooth can become really entertaining.

so here's what ashton and i did for a good hour and a half today.

enjoy!

and then cath had to join in because seriously, it's funny!

so ash and i hope that you enjoyed these photos half as much as we did.
and if they made you laugh, well you're welcome!

have a great day! [:

revenge...

at approximately 12:36 last night, or this morning i guess, our down the hall neighbors, mark and shelby, woke up to this lovely surprise.

harsh?...not if you know the whole story.

recently mark and shelby have thought that they were super funny by placing fire extinguishers in front of our door then banging on our door and running away. which is a funny prank but there's one problem. mark and shelby love to party which means that they knock on our door at 2 or 3 in the morning.
when cath and i are asleep.

this little prank has resulted into quite the struggle. cath sleeps with her head phones in so she usually doesn't hear the banging. i on the other hand can't sleep with my head phones in because it hurts my ears. oh yea, and i'm a wimp. so at 3 a.m. when they bang on our door it usually results in me frantically waking up, heart racing, and jumping up into the top bunk with cath. which wakes her up and all i can say is, "cath please tell me you locked the door!"

then it hits me.
it's just mark and shelby.
little bums!

so cath and i have been plotting a bit of revenge. i wanted icy hot on the toilet seats, because due to personal experience i know that it hurts, and it lingers on the seat even after you've wiped it off. but due to the public restrooms that little plan wouldn't work. so this is the beginning of our revenge.

also getting these two little stinkers back is quite the struggle because
a. they're usually out until ridiculous hours of the night and
b. catching them when they're sober poses quite the challenge.

so last night we got lucky with them going to bed early and sober. and we took full advantage of it.
[don't mind our crusty selves, it was getting late!]

so there is phase one of our revenge.
[yes there will be more to come.]
but you're just going to have to stay tuned for that!

i dare you...

so tonight we got a little bored. nelson, ashton, and garth were in cath and i's room and we were skyping with george to pass some time. i decided to skype my family because i wanted them to meet nelson so that they could see just how funny he was. after the skyping was over we all just kinda sat around bored out of our mind when ashton spotted some icy hot. he picked it up and i told them about this awful experience i once had when i accidently got icy hot in my armpits.

let's just say icy hot in the armpits hurts.
bad.

so i said i dare you to put it on your armpits and ashton and garth being the geniuses they are did it. five minutes later they realize that i was right, icy hot in the armpits hurts dearly. so they start jumping around their arms flailing around when out of nowhere nelson jumps on ashton's back and yells, "i holding your arms down to make it more worse!"

[notice garth in the background with the horrified face and grabbing his armpit!]

but watching nelson jump on ashton's back was way funnier than watching ash and garth put on the icy hot.

they finally couldn't take it anymore and they took off on a dead sprint down the hall. which then had everyone opening their doors trying to figure out what was going on.

which left nelson in our room laughing so hard.
the best part about it was that he was standing on the bed jumping up and down on it.
oh he is way too funny!

hopefully garth and ash learned their lesson about icy hot, and if not that's just fine because they were great comic relief tonight!
